Emanuela Ravelli & Verter Turroni, Objects made of fiberglass

Ciottolo - Pebble

From 17 January to 20 February the Werft 11 Gallery will present CIOTTOLO, an exhibition of large-scale fibreglass objects from the Italian design duo of Emanuela Ravelli and Verter Turroni. Inspired by nature, their extraordinary furniture and vases are also objects whose rounded edges and polished surfaces recall oversized pebbles. A variety of sizes and colours (black, white and natural) give the impression of a bed of river rocks.

The furniture in CIOTTOLO is part of the Imperfettolab collection, which also includes vases and sculptures. The objects bear names from nature: onions, shells, pebbles and so on.

All the objects designed by Ravelli and Turroni are a synthesis of organic form and synthetic material―soft round shapes and tough fibreglass. They can be arranged harmonically in the garden or in the home.

After the objects are given form, they are carefully sanded, painted and lacquered. The shapes and the unusual sizes reveal the painterly and sculptural talent of their creators.

While still students, Ravelli and Turroni founded a joint studio, which they named "Il Laboratorio dell’Imperfetto," the laboratory of the imperfect. Emanuela Ravelli was born in 1971 in Chiari, Italy and studied at Milan’s Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera. Verter Turroni was born in 1965 in Cesena and studied at Ravenna’s Accademia di Belle Arti. They now live and work in Gamettola, Italy.
