For its upcoming exibition, titled THE CONFERENCE, from 16 Jan 2012 – 12 Feb 2012, Werft 11 will present the simulation of a conference with an audience of important and famous thinkers.

The setup will be traditional with chairs and a speaker. The wall will be decorated with text paintings and a screen showing the film "Beautiful World", a critical film about a visual language of signs, codes and trends.

The designer Mieke Gerritzen is, a.o., known for her fascination with collections of images. Her work recently was shown in the Cooper Hewitt Museum New York, the Design Museum Milan and the Venice Biennale. She is also director of MOTI, Museum of the Image in Breda, Netherlands. Mieke Gerritzen lives in Amsterdam.

Geert Lovink is founding director of the Institute of Network Cultures, Dutch media theorist and critic. He is founder of internet projects such as "nettime" and "fibreculture". His latest book is called: "Zero Comments", Routledge, New York, 2007. He lives in Amsterdam.

The books "Everyone is a Designer" (BIS 2010), "Catalogue of Strategies (Gingko Press 2010) are joint projects by Mieke Gerritzen and Geert Lovink aswell as the BROWSERDAY event, founded in 1998.
