Ceramics
The idiosyncratic, space-filling objects of the ceramicist Grita Götze oscillate between tradition and postmodernity, applied art and fine art. Her masterful handing of the material creates a sensuous aesthetic that reappraises classical forms.

Götze’s gorgeous vases, pitchers, wall plates, and tiles bear opulently designed images with figurative and ornamental motifs that vary plants, animals, and human beings.

These unconventional re-interpretations of a classic genre playfully bring together the forceful signature of the artist with quotations from Greek Antiquity, the Baroque, and Art Nouveau. Their perfect craftsmanship and experimental, intricate techniques are a steadfast avowal of unmediated beauty.
