Kirsten Wittstruck comments on her work:
"That is porcelain???... it looks more like paper or cardboard!" I hear this question over and over again. It confirms to me that I have been successful in achieving the appearance I have intended for my porcelain vessels. For me, the attraction of a material exists in experiencing it with all of one’s senses – in the secret, which is only divulged through intensive looking, listening and feeling. My unglazed, wafer-thin tumblers and bowls live because of this secret – through the puzzlement and deception experienced by a person who sees them for the first time. With more careful examination, one is amazed at the glassy resonance, the transparency and the robustness. The vessels show their special attraction in use – combined with liquid or light."
