Thomas Geyer takes the motifs for his images from the countryside surrounding his home town of Leipzig. Saxony, as with East Germany in general, is a mostly low-density area dominated by nature. In Geyer’s pictures, forest dwellers- -acting as clandestine observers - appear frequently,  humans only rarely. Looking at his works throws the beholder back to the world of fairytale and myth. His images, based on preliminary sketches, contain snippets of real and invented places.
